Stitchfix. Here to save the Bay!

Ever wished that someone else would just tell you what you should wear, how to wear it and send those clothes and accessories right to your doorstep? I think those exact words came out of my mouth (just ask @lifeaseric!) and I believe it was him that came across this service online and encouraged me to try it out. Talk about a catch, right ladies? Thanks to Stitchfix I feel more stylish, and the confidence I’ve gained from that is priceless.

This is how I describe Stitchfix to my friends…

They are a San Francisco based company of personal stylists. For a $20 styling fee, they handpick a “fix” of 5 clothing items and accessories that they think you’ll love (and sometimes a little out of your comfort zone to help you try new things). You complete a profile that can always be updated and modified to give them an idea of what you like, and they will check your style board on your pinterest account too. YOU determine the price ranges and the types of clothes you’d like to get and can sign up monthly or less regularly if you prefer. On average things tend to cost around $65. That said, there is a checkbox for “the cheaper, the better” on each type of clothing (accessories, bottoms, dresses, jewelry, outer layers, and tops). I can not attest to the quality or pricing on those items as I have $50-$100 specified on all items in my personal profile, which is one step higher on the pricing scale. Other pricing options include $100-$150, $150-$200, and $200+.

Here’s the best part – Try it all on at home, keep what you like and send back the rest for free! If you buy at least one thing, then the $20 style fee is applied to it and the service cost nothing except for the price of the clothing. Buy all 5 things and you get 25% off your entire order. The prices may be retail, but I figure the time saved not stepping foot into a mall or shopping online is worth every penny. I’m always thrilled when the entire box works out and gets me the 25% off.  Helps to ease my inner “I was probably an extreme couponer in a previous life” and humors that thrill I get when I score a great deal! The personal stylists get to know you, your sizing, and your tastes better and better each time based on what you keep, what you send back, and from the notes you leave them when you check out online each month. I am a huge advocate for this service and can honestly say it has changed my life for the better since having my daughter and got me out of a huge style rut.

They offer a small credit to those who share this awesome service with others and if you decide to sign up, I’d love if you’d please Click Here to use my personal referral link. Our daughter and I take daily pictures together on Instagram under #dresswithus. I’m generally wearing at least 1 Stitchfix item, if not more, each day. Can you spot the “fix”?

This is not a sponsored post but I have used affiliate links. I purchase Stitchfix for myself. If Stitchfix is the answer to your fashion prayers like it was to mine, then I’m thrilled to have brought you one step closer to the best thing since…online shopping!

I’m hearing more and more about Stitchfix. My friend tried it and said she didn’t like anything in her box. I’m kind of curious about it though!

By the way, I love your green top with the birds. Was that a “fix”? :)

Hi Jen! That’s unfortunate that Stitchfix didn’t work out for your friend. As you know, I’ve used their service for a long time and always love everything in my fix. Maybe it will be a good fit for you like it is for me! You can always try it out since there’s no commitment. Just get one month, and if you keep at least 1 of the 5 items then your $20 styling fee goes towards your purchase. I’ve got it…request at least 1 piece of jewelry because jewelry always fits! Do you know that they have purses now too? I haven’t received a purse yet but from the pictures I’ve seen on Instagram, they look adorable. And YES, my green bird top is from Stitchfix :) Let me know if you end up signing up!

Hi Allison! I just scheduled my first fix through your referral link. It will arrive in May (Waiting list is so long!), but I’m already excited to open my box!
Thank you for sharing great information, I like your pictures with KC a lot! Looking forward to more to come:)

I was on a wait list when I started too but it went by quickly :) I think you’ll love it! And thank you for using my referral link, I really appreciate it. If you are like me and want to know what you’re getting in your fix as soon as possible, as soon as you get the email that it’s shipped to you, log in to your Stitchfix account. All the items will be listed there without pictures, and you can get an idea of whether you’re getting jeans, dresses, blouses, etc. So glad that you like my pictures with KC. She now reminds me that we have to take a picture before we go anywhere. Let me know how your first fix is! Can’t wait to hear about it. What is your Instagram name?

Hi Allison, this is Elif from Ig <3 I have been reading your blog since you've started and finally have a minute to leave a note. I love all your posts. This one, as a fellow Stitch Fix fanatic, is a can't miss one for me haha. I love the colors, patterns, textures of your outfits and of course seeing your cutie pie with her super pretty outfits next to you. So happy to have "met" you on insta and will continue to read your adorable blog! Great job pretty lady! Lots of hugs and kisses, Elif

Hi Elif! Aw, thanks IG friend! I know that we have some work to do behind the scenes on our blog, but our focus has been to just get good content up. I’ve really been enjoying writing and look forward to watching our blog grow. Speaking of colors, pattern, and textures, YOUR Stitchfix outfits are amazing. Love that your daughter took your picture one day. I used to have KC take my picture. It’s fun to see it from their height. I lacked all 3 of those things before Stitchfix came into my life, so this past year or so has been fun now that I try to put more focus on feeling good in what I wear. Thanks for the extra love!!

I so love your style and look forward to your instagram pics of you and your adorable mini. I want your closet. I know you shop through stitch fix a lot, but where are all your adorable purses from? You are always so polished and pulled together! :)

Hi Jennifer! Thanks so much. I’ve really been enjoying the extra time spent with KC this year. They grow up so fast as I’m sure you know! Your son is so handsome. I haven’t bought a purse in a long time, but I do have a handful of them that I rotate based on the colors I’m wearing. I have one coach purse that my husband bought me from the Couch outlet after Thanksgiving one year, my mint one is from Modcloth.com, I have a few by Phillip Lim for Target (only available on ebay now), others are from Ross, 1 that was on sale from Anthropologie, Target, the hot pink one is Erica Anenberg brand from my Hautelook mobile app, and I have a striped Kate Spade that was gifted to me :) I love purses but I’ve been focusing on a complete overhaul of my closet over the past year or so. That was why I started Stitchfix. I hated my closet, and now I love it so much more thanks to Stitchfix. But did you know that Stitchfix has started selling purses too? I don’t know if I’m reading to give up one of my 5 items for a purse, but that’s still pretty cool. I really appreciate the kind words and I love hearing that you enjoy our #dresswithus pictures!

I would love to know what style preferences you included in your style profile. I have tried Stiycj Fix three times, given them tons of feedback, LinkedIn Pinterest board, but have only kept one sweater and one pair of earrings from all three boxes :( I love so many p the tops in your pictures and have specifically requested some p them, but no luck. Maybe I need to change up my profile? Help please!! :) As a mom of four kids 5 and under, I really want to like stitchfix! :)

Hi Stacy. That must be very frustrating. Why don’t you email me directly and I’ll share with you what I have in my Stitchfix profile. I believe that you could also mention my name in your profile and that you like all the clothes I get. I think that I mentioned @coconutrobot (coconutrobot.com) when I first signed up because I liked everything she got, plus I think I had used her referral link way back in the beginning :) Email me at lifeasus@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you! I want you to like Stitchfix too because it’s so convenient for a mom with young kids! – Alli

I would love to know if there’s a way to duplicate your profile? StitchFix keeps getting mine wrong and I don’t know how to fix it. Every.single.thing. you are wearing is something I would LOVE!! Is there a way to share this with us? Or with me? :) Pretty please!! I have kept two items out of six shipments and I feel like I’m throwing my money away. Thanks so much…your blog is fantastic btw!!

Hi Allison! I found you through Stitch Fix’s blog! I love your style and the clothes Stitch fix has sent you. I have been using stitch fix for 4 months and I have yet to be extremely impressed. I’d love to know if you have a Pinterest account? And if you pin things on there for your stylist and if you have the same stylist each time? Thanks!

Hi Natalie! Thanks so much for the kind words. Definitely check out my Pinterest account at http://www.pinterest.com/lifeasus/ and my “Her Style” board that I have tied to my Stitch Fix account. I pin things a lot, including specific Stitch Fix items I see other bloggers pin from their own fixes. I do not get the same stylist each time. I used to see stylist names repeat back in the beginning when I first started but now each name looks new to me. I think they’ve really expanded their group of stylists so they can accommodate their growing clientele! What are your instagram and pinterest account names so that I may follow you too? Thanks again!

Hi Allison! Greetings from Austin, TX! Just found you through the StitchFix blog and adore all your outfits and pics! Can you tell me did you get that fab white necklace (the one with the squares) through a Fix? And where did you get those beige booties?
Thanks so much and great blog (as a mom of two toddlers the Parent With Us section is great!

    A new fan,
    Jackie

Hi Jackie! Thank you so much. That fab white necklace is actually a fab mint/turquoise necklace! It’s just hard to tell with the filters. I did get it through a fix. The brand is Fornash, but I’ve never heard of it. The beige booties are from Sole Society. I’d appreciate if you’d click from my referral link :) It’s supposed to give 20% off a 1st purchase of $65 or more, so please let me know if that works! Here’s the link:

      http://ww2.solesociety.com/invite/link/index/id/11687130/type/2/

The thing is that their inventory changes and they don’t always get more of a shoe after it runs out of stock. The funny thing is that I really wanted it in a darker color, but that was the last one in my size and I still had to have it. They ended up going with everything! Although I haven’t seen that particular bootie again, they always have cute shoes, purses, and jewelry. A lot of the shoes you’ll see in my #dresswithus pictures came from that site :)

I’m so glad that you love our blog and I look forward to hearing more from you. Be sure to let us know if you follow along with any of our reading exercises! Since I partner with my mom on those, we love knowing that we’re reaching other moms and children. What’s your instagram name? I’d love to follow you if I’m not already!

I know I’m a little late to this thread, but I would love to know how you take those entire body pictures! Everytime I try with my phone I end up either just getting my chest or the floor! You look great by the way!
